Can I Use Retinol With Light Therapy?
Yes — retinol and LED light therapy work well together, with one important rule: apply retinol after your session, never before.
Using retinol before treatment can reflect light and reduce how effectively it penetrates the skin, which diminishes the results of your session. Once your mask session is complete, you're free to apply retinol as part of your normal skincare routine.
Important Note for Prescribed Tretinoin Users
If you are using prescribed tretinoin (a stronger, prescription-grade form of retinoid), do not use it in combination with light therapy. Tretinoin can increase light sensitivity and may cause an adverse reaction when used alongside LED treatment.
If you're on tretinoin and want to use the Artemis mask, we recommend speaking with your dermatologist or prescribing doctor first.
